Im sure this is a stupid question but i figure i'd ask because one of you may have found some luck. Is there anyway to get a crayfish to leave plants alone? Is there something he is lacking in his diet or does he just like to rain on my parade of pretty live plants?

Some crayfish will be lawnmowers in a tank. As far as I know there is nothing to be done about it except move them or give them plants that are tough for them to eat like some of the anubius plants. Plastic works well too 
i figured as much :/ plastic is ok but i live is more fun, maybe I i will get my 30 gal running with cichlids so i can have some live ones
my big cray fish loves nothing more than to mess things up. I have some grass, not sure exactly what kind, i don't know too much about plants/planted tanks, yet. I pinned the stuff down with a few rocks kinda surrounding it then filled in cracks with gravel, My cray does not cut or eat the plants, just uproots them and stares at me like he doesnt know hes a jerk. any plants that I did not pile shtuff on got pulled, hope that helps? good luck
HA! Crayfish are very active when it comes to changing around the look of your tank. They arrange things the way they want them!
