I recently had to put my 6.5 inch male dovii and 5 inch female dovii into a 55 gallon aquarium with my 8 inch oscar because the dovii's tank sprung a leak.

Last night, my dad woke up in the middle of the night because the dovii were chasing the oscar around the tank making him slam into the glass and making alot of noise. This morning when I came downstairs the oscar was barely alive and the tank had a leak! I'm not saying the dovii caused the leaks in both tanks, but it's a pretty big coincidence if you ask me.

So now I have to catch all three fish to drain the tank, and the male jumped two feet up out of the tank, bounced on the couch three feet away, fell another two and a half feet, and landed on the floor! I'm going to build a new tank for the dovii out of bulletproof glass lol. Those are the dovii in my avatar by the way.

wasnt a good idea..dooing that lol..thats way to small..

well the speed they move, size, weight and strength I can full well believe they did the damage. Poor lil oscy, hope he's ok

Oscars are not really that tough, I tried an oscar once in a 125g with my red devil, the devil completly shredded it overnight, by the time I got the oscar out of there it looked like something from the movie resident evil.

I know the tank was way too small, but I had no other choice. It's not like I have a secret stash of back-up 180's lol. With any luck I'll be getting another tank for the Dovii via Craigslist for very, very cheap, but if not I'll have to repair both tanks (urg!) and get everyone back to where they're supposed to be. I'll have to fix up the 55 anyway, but it's kind of a pain.

The oscar (I call him Oscar the Grouch) is laying on his side right now in a temporary Rubbermaid container tank, but every once in a while he'll get up and show the heater who's boss lol. I made a DIY heater guard but he still attacks it. The male dovii jumped out of his Rubbermaid so I had to put a big towel over it lol. He's one crazy fish, but I love him anyway :).

It isn't the Dovii that were stupid.

What would a responsible Monster Fish Keeper have done differently in my situation? My 125 with dovii springs a leak, and my available options for moving them while a fix the tank are a 55 gallon with an 8 inch oscar, a 20 gallon with my caquetaia spectabilis grow-outs, or a 10 gallon with 3/4 inch festae fry. The Rubbermaid containers that the fish are currently in as a last result hold about 12 gallons of water each. Do most people on this site actually have large tanks sitting around their garages in case of emegency?

In any case I am reading up on aquarium repair articles and will be getting a $900 paycheck in two days. Being 14 years old, I don't have any other financial responsibilities, so I will be getting another very large aquarium. I posted this thread to share a story about my incredible dovii and their aggressive tendancies.

For all who were worried about Oscar the Grouch, thanks for your concern, and he is much more active now. He doesn't really have any body wounds as much as severly torn fins, but I set the temp to 86 and added some salt just in case.
