you never know, Ive seen 10 inch oscars with 1 inch tiger barbs and the oscar didnt even care, yet again iver seen 12inch oscars beaten the crud outa things bigger then them, it depends on the temperment of your oscar is all I can say.

:iagree: it all depends on the Oscar. mine was in with a 3" JD when he was about 9" and didnt bother the JD. so i would say try it and watch to make sure the O doesnt kill the other fish. good luck

I had a needlefish that I loved, and raised a baby oscar in the same tank. When the oscar was about 10 inches, I woke up one morning to find the needlefish sticking out the oscar's mouth - tail first, very sad. I would not do it.

I'm not saying do it or not do it but keep the following in mind:
Needle fish are pretty delicate to begin with and tend to scare easily: This causes them to sometimes dart forward when this happens, and as a result they might hit the glass, and can break their beaks or necks by doing so.
I dont know the needle fish or oscars size that you have it mind, but the O' does not need to even eat the fish, he could just scare it real bad and that could be the end of him.
My oscar's a gentle giant, but ive seen some real jerks so thats also a factor.

i have the needle fish already its about 10 inches had them for a while now and i was thinking of get a baby osacar. i have seen oscars with smaller fish and be find but then some harasses every thing because of territory so if i get it I'm guessing keep a eye on them for a while and see what aggression there is and get some plants as hiding spots?

i've had my oscar eat 2 needlefish....i loved the needle's but the oscar just looks at them as food whenever its hungry....but it won't bother a 2-3" severum
