Is every drop of water the same size? Because certain medicines require x many of drops.

At the fact 10 drops = a milliliter and with a couple conversions, I would say a gallon of water = very close to 35,000 drops of water so then 100 gallons of water would be = 3,500,003.500 drops of water.:D

Not a stupid question at all. A very good one in fact. There are only stupid answers, and you'll get tons of those. :)

And to answer your question; In a nutshell, no. Each drop is different, depending on how many H2O (water) molecules are present in the drop.

There may be 3.5 million molecules of water in one drop, or 3.4 million molecules.

But each and every water molecule ( H-O-H ) is exactly the same, and exactly the same size.

it also depends on what's being dripped. alchohal has a lower surface tension than water and mercury had way higher. alchohal makes smaller drops and mercury makes larger.

if you're asking for medicinal purposes, the size opening of the bottle and the pressure you squezze with are important too. the size of the hole will usually be included for dosage in the instructions and just squeeze with firm steady force to ensure drop consisitancy

When a medication or test kit says to add a certain amount of drops, it isn't a very precise method, but it falls within the acceptable range of inaccuracy.
