I gave my kids Red Ear Slider a treat by way of a Convict Cichlid I bred and grew out.

He was hot on the chase and he took a swipe at the fish. As he bit at it, he got a mouth full of gravel. I picked him up and tryed to take the gravel out of his mouth but he swallowed two pebble size pieces.

What should I do? Will he somehow pass it or do I need to take my daughters $5.00 turtle to the animal hospital so they can try to remove it (for an expected bill of $500.00)?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

lmao, i like how you stated the prices XD.
if its pebbel size i honestly doubt that it will digest them though.

Define pebble size please. Are we talking the really small gravel, the fish tank gravel? Or are we talking larger river pebbles?

Can we get some pics of both the turtle, and the size of the pebbles he swallowed? Preferably in the same pic, for comparison purposes...

depends on the turtles size

u should switch to sand if you want to prevent future pebble butt

Fish tank gravel. My camera got stolen yesterday so I can't post pics but it was big enough to where 3 pieces of it filled his mouth. I got one out but two more are inside him somewhere:eek:

The turtles shell is 8.5" front to back

8.5" turtle with aquarium gravel? My opinion would be that he will most likely be able to pass that.

My standard disclaimer applies.

yeah, he should pass it fine unless they manage to get all three wedged together in the intestine.
In any case, i'd get him off the gravel.
