where my cichla are
I'm certain i've told the story of how we got stupid shark.. but i'm gonna do it again.

i went to my LFS and bought 3 cichla temensis. While the guy was trying to get my tems out of a tank of unlabeled shark-like catfish, one of the idiots would NOT get out of the net, the LFS guy spent like 5 minutes trying to get the tems without the stupid shark in the net.

finally i said, if the stupid shark wants to come home with me that badly i'll take him too.. we both laughed and now i have a stupid shark.

the thing is, i really don't know what kind of fish he is, i suspect irredescent shark, or blue whale.. someone said paroon shark, but that seems less likely to me since i only paid $6.95 for him.

Anyway, here is a pic.. he still can't stay out of a net.. we rearranged some tanks and my hubby just put the net into the 50 gal to get a couple snails for the new tank we were setting up and stupid shark swam into the net and wouldn't get out.. again. so now he's in the 60 gal tank.

I have 2 that are ~18" and growing. They are very underrated.

Know what I think happened....you guys must be scooping out excess fish food with your nets and making the fish think its feeding time everytime you stick the net in the tank...OR....You accidentally dropped your net in some PCP and your catfish is tripping b***s....OR...It really likes the color green...Or...it was dropped on the head when it was a baby....

But really...I dont know if Pangasis Suchi (sp i know) has any sonar like recepters on its body...the fish is known for having poor eyesight as it ages and really has a good sense of smell...(i used to own 2 of them)...maybe he is having a reaction to the charge of the metal in the net and its attracting it into the net...

I donno but hey...atleast thats 1 less fish you have to worry about finding when you stick the net into the tank...

lol, i just figure he earned his name.. he's a character to watch. He's currently upsetting a group of cichla orinocensis, his tem buddies outgrew him and are in the tank he decided he didn't want to be in.. lol.

thanks for the identification.. i saw a bigger one at an MFKer's house and he was pretty cool looking at about 14 inches (just guessing.. ).

he's got a new occupation, he's the official bloodworm dispenser. He grabs the ball of frozen bloodworms and swims all over the tank spreading bloodworms in the gravel for the black ghost knife to find later.. :naughty:
