So I have a 29G planted with this apple snail in it and it seems more and more the case that he likes to wander into my filter intake. It is a aqua clear 50, I was wondering what I can do to keep him out, could I take some sponge filter materials and make an end for the filter intake, or would that effect the motor and suction/output. Any ideas would help thanks.

apple snail are actually amphibious. they like to wander out of the tank. ive had many end up dried up behind the tank. they also breathe air through the siphon. it is likely that your o2 levels are too low in the tank and the snail is happier breathing regular air and the filter is a good place to hang out without the worry of drying up. also, you may have alot of eadibles in the filter the snail likes to munch on. try feeding seedless cucumber slices to keel him full so he wond need to wander.
