The lfs where I work was selling sturgeon. They had four. I know full well, based on the clientele we serve, that they would almost certainly go to an unfitting home and die. At least with me, I know I can take good care of them. I only have room for one. I took one. He's a tiny guy, maybe 2.5 inches. Light tan/brown [light! like a champagne colored toyota corolla. shutup] with a slight/faint green iridescence on his sides. very active. pectoral fins are someone rounded, I suppose. Halfway between rounded [oblong, not round, per se] and pointed. This little guy is amazing. His name is Mr. Shoe [because I think he's shoe-shaped]. I will post a pic this afternoon.
He was labelled 'baerii sturgeon' but this can't be right! They are on the IUCN red list. ****ing endangered. It's gotta be a sterlet or a shovelnose. The ventral portion of the fish is whiteish. He is really something special.
and YES, I can house him properly, and NO, it's none of your business. I'm an animal rights activist, and I really don't like being told "u cant house ur fishz propurlee' by some clown shoveling down a cheeseburger while lecturing me about cruelty. He's going to wind up in very, very large pond when he outgrows is present home.
