If you don't know what species it is then why would you think it would automatically need a chiller or a massive tank?

Because almost every sturgeon (actually, ALL sturgeon that I know of need VERY cold water) and even the smallest species need massive tanks. :)

Well then you'll be interested to know that isn't true, sturgeon on the east coast and gulf coast are native all the way down into Mexico. Sturgeon in Florida routinely live in water above 80 degrees. Shovelnose sturgeon, which are bred in captivity, often live in water in the mid to high 70's and only get to be a maximum of three feet or so. Most are less than 24" in the wild. Sterlets from Europe seldom get to more than 39" and can also live in water in the mid 70s. There are sturgeon from Eurasia that max out at 12" Glad to have been of help in clearing that up.
