Anyone keep Sturgeon? Are they legal in Canada and the U.S.? How big can they get in an aquarium? Easy to keep? Thanks.

sterlets are occasionally seen for sale, they aren't easy to keep due to their size and their water requirements, including needing a chiller

the only thing I know about sturgeon is the Swannee River Sturgeon (obviously native to the Suwannee River, here in FL). it is endangered and illegal to fish for. I bet that they wouldn't mind you breeding them, though. if you had the proper licenses, anyway. they like to jump when boats pass, and a few boaters have been killed recently (I read about this in a recent newspaper article, google it if you want).

they get HUGE, and aren't suited for tanks smaller than your living room.

thier roe is also the makings of caviar.

Edit: they also have bony, armored scales. they would belong in the "prehistoric fish" section of this site.
