Cool to cold water and high O2 levels are required and at small sizes they are rather timid feeders so they pretty much need a species tank or they will slowly starve. They are easier to keep once they get to the 30 cm. mark. I f you can keep healthy trout you can keep healthy sturgeon and they make pretty compatable tankmates. A school I went to in Washington state had an 2.5m.x1.25m.x1m. (approx.) tank at their hatchery where we kept both.

I bought a sturgeon a few days ago. The moment I added it to the tank, it started feeding on the bloodworms that settled onto the bottom of the tank. Seems to be getting along well huh? Well, the next day, it seemed to be having breathing difficulties. I then added a few air bubble stones and several ice cubes into its tank. But unfoprtunately, it died the next day. It sure seems a difficult fish to rear.

those s. on aquabid are FISH ROOM PLUS

I had a baby sterlet once, and it was doing great on shrimp pellets, live worms, frozen blood worms, and freeze dried tubifex worms, but one of the larger fish in the tank ate it when I was at work.

But he was doing fine for the two weeks I had him.
