guys, i just saw a pair of sturgeons in a local fish shop here in manila & am quite curious whether it would survive in a tropical climate... has anyone ever tried taking care of one? is it advisable to keep one in a tank or pond? what do you feed it?

I would think an unheated pond would be the best option. They may survive for some time in tropical water, but it would not be best for them.

Sturgeon can grow HUGE!!! if u're not planning to give them ample housing for them to grow...u better leave them at the fish store so if u want to watch them, just go to that fish store...

not worth it to bring them home and deprived them of a good natural life...as a monsterfishkeepers from reader...u should know better NOT to do that..

They also need oxigen rich, cooler water and can not swim backwards so you need to make the tank empty, so that they can't get stuck.

oh don't worry about the space coz i have a number of ponds prepared for my arapaima & gar... i'd rather adopt it than allow it fall into the wrong hands who may not know how to handle it... my concern is more on the climate & the food it eats... thanks for the concern tho..:)

Not all sturgeon get huge, the sterlet stays under 3',
keep them below 70 F

yea like guppy said, it depends on the type of sturgeon. all are coldwater, adn it wont be happy in tropical conditions
