So im in my l.f.s yesterday looking around and next thing i know my freind walks up and says hey theres sturgeons over here. I First go theres no way theres sturgeon in this store and then i walk over and sure as **** two 3 inch sturgeon are in the tank. WTF who has room for a sturgeon and im curios as to how many people have seen or own a fish capable of this size?

90G (Tiny Growout) 5" (siberian I think!)

I have keep Gar and Sturgeon in smaller growouts. Gars for "spook/ broken back syndrome" and Sturgeon for ease of finding food untouched by Gars.

I have found that it is ideal to move Gar many times to slightly larger tanks. It is major FAIL to do this with sturgeons. They do not re-home nearly as well as gar, and have found 90G to be the smallest tank that baby sturgeons can easily find the food source, and still give over one year to age the sturgeon before the final move (Farm Pond!)

The first thing to understand is that not all sturgeons are giants, sterlets in the wild are around 40" more or less, North American shovelnose sturgeon average around 24" or so in the wild with exceptional specimens going as big as 40" more or less. Another species of sturgeon maxes out at 12" or so (don't hold your breath to see that one in pet stores, lol) . Sturgeon are also relatively slow growers and will take years to outgrow a 125 gallon tank so don't be so quick to jump to conclusions.
