Thought I would do some pics of the sub ocular before disposing of the clown I lost today. They can inflict a painful wound to the unwary, and get caught in nets, especially fine mesh ones.

wow thanks for the close up look..very interesting to see it .. i hope i never have to look at mine this close however.. .. that was a beautiful clown..sad!:(
 
Those things are small, but they hurt. Feels like a nasty sliver.

Netted a big loach at the store, and it went crazy and jumped out. I grabbed it quickly to get it back in the water and I got Stabbed! LOL Not exactly a lionfish sting, but not pleasant either.
