Hey, just set up my 8x4x2' pond and want to help cycle it with my clown knife (18") and maybe some pacu's. I plan on seeding my new filter system with some old filter pads from other tank's. It is only going to be heated for a couple of weeks till it is cycled, then these fish come out and my 2 albino channels and some koi will enjoy their new home.Oh yeah atleast half of the pond's water is from other aquariums also. My question is will submersible heaters burn, melt, or damage, my pond liner in any way if they are resting against it. If so I've already thought of a couple of ways to prevent it, taking a bucket and cutting off from the bottom about 6inches up, drilling a hole in the bucket and ziptying the cords to the bucket so the clown can't move the heaters out of the bucket. Or just puttin the heaters in a pvc pipe so they don't touch the side. Remember only for a couple of weeks so nothing fancy. Thanx

what type of filter do you have. Did u make it yourself? I would just put the heater in the filter if you have room

I'ts not a canister, so I can't put it inside it. I do plan on getting one down the road, but that don't help right now. It's a laguna powerflomax submersible and a Laguna 952gph utility, pump hooked up to it for now till it is cycled or I get more money, then I plan on tripling the gph atleast, with a good canister filter, or two.

I have a 1000watt titanium heater in my pond, that has a pond liner in it... what i did was tie to the back of drift wood and it wont move at all... works excellent and out of sight ....but i think if it laid on the liner itself it would burn it .... i would say tie it to something....

It may not burn it, but it will definitely age it, causing a brittle area that will wear faster.

The PVC pipe placed on an angle (convection flow) should be quick and easy.
