I have a 180g with 35g sump. Had put a danner mag 24 inline and is increasing the temp from 77 to 84. After doing research it looks like I need a external pump with fan. What pump is the best value that will give me plenty of flow? Medium stocked tank. I need something pretty quiet. The return line runs about 5 feet vertical. Thanks for the input!

I had the same problem. I had two Msg18's running externally with no heaters and my temp was at 88. It was nice in the winter, though.

I wouldn't worry about 84. If it really bothers you, then you can try maximizing air flow to tank and sump by opening doors/covers, and blowing a fan over the waters surface of tank/sump

Forgot to add: throw a couple of airstones in the tank to increase O2 exchange
