Substitutes for 3M Colorquartz

I'm having no luck whatsoever finding a distributor that carries the black 3M colorquartz sand (I live in NC). Some alternatives that have been suggested to me have been Flourite Black Sand and Black Tahitian Moon Ssand. Has anyone had experience with one/both of these? I'm currently using regular pool filter sand and like how quickly it settles if disturbed, but have decided black would provide a better contrast for the fishes' color (it's a salvini tank).

That makes two of us. I called so many distributors around LA CA. They carry 3m sand but won't sale them to public. (wholesale only). I like to know alternatives too

Estes Medium Broadcast. You will find it at most Wholesale or Warehouse Paint Supply stores. The price should be around $24.00 for a 50 lb bag.

EMB is comparable to 3M S grade. I like Estes better though. It seems to be heavier and you can clean it with a gravel vac. Comes in over 16 colors.

Is this what you were talking about? It's a decent price and close to home, but I just want to make sure it's not super fine and is heavy enough to clean with a gravel vac.
