Hey guys yet another question, this salt thing is all new to me. I started a 10 gal, and have just moved up into a 30gal, I am getting a brown algea (i think) that is growing on the surface of my substrate (sand/or crushed coral i think). I read somewhere about some organisms that stir the substrate? Is there any way to control it as vacuming my substrate every couple days just doesn't seem like the proper way to handle it. I would get pics but I can't find my camera but I'll work on that. My glass is clean, and so is my live rock (other than coraline/purple stuff), I just don't quite get whats going on with the substrate discoloration, and it is only at the surface. Thanks for the input!

You've nothing to worry about. What's happening is your tank is going through its nitrate cycle, the brown algae on your substrate and rocks is called diatoms which is a good thing for the tank to mature, keep an eye on your nitrites and ammonia and make sure they don't spike if you have anything living in the tank.

Coraline algae is good, makes the rocks look all purdy :D
