Substrate Change

Aparently in a couple weeks when I get my cast off from my broken wrist, my parents want the carpets deep cleaned. the kind where you have to move anything on the carpet. well my 130 gallon is. so since i have to catch all my fish and empty it anyway i was thinking of changing the substrate from gravel to sand. the fish in there are my black aro, ornate bichir, albino senegal bicher, 2 sevs, 1 gold saum, a common pleco, a L001, and some misc. small schoolers. i was wondering what type of sand would be the best choice. i really like the look of both white sand and tahitian (spelling?) moon sand. so what are your inputs on both, and what would everyone suggest? thanks!

Expensive when you doing a bigger tank like yours.

I prefer to use pool sand and highlight with large gravel and rocks that I have collected.

But the other sands ARE beautiful.

Otherwise they all work the same.

I like pool filter sand because it isnt as fine as playsand, and it's still cheap.
I've got it in a couple of my tanks and I like it much better than the playsand I used to have.

I use concrete sand in my tanks,love the look of it,
it has alot of texture.
And it was only $6 for a 80lb bag,but it takes alot of time to clean.

If the budget allows I would recommend a course silica like pool filter sand due to the water requirements of your fish and the fact that it wont trap gases as much as pit run, play sand or quary sand.

haha yeah i think my allowance could cover those costs haha. but you all forget, summer just got over. every kid who isnt lazy and gets a job has money at this time!

How do you tell if you qualify? Your water bill is as high as your electric bill and twice as high as your neighbors! And the local lfs call you for advice.
