Came home to a leaking 36g Friday, unfortunately petsmart had them in stock so I couldn't use the forced to upgrade line on the wife. Any how, I had plenty of new play sand so I didn't reuse any of the old. Today I drained the last 6" of water and substrate and noticed the substrate was disgusting. Some of my plants have extensive root systems so I never move them when cleaning, simplybvac what I can. I assume a lot of the funk is plant matter possibly from the roots and was wondering if anyone stirs their sand like a normal tank when cleaning?
