Hi,

I am using white gravel for one of my tanks I am wondering if that is a good color?

I don't think that theres a "good color", it all comes down to preference. Most will say including myself black is best because it give a greater contrast allowing the fishes colors to stand out more.

i actually like black the most... i have natural slate tile on the bottom of my tank and the colors in my african aro, ornate bichir have improved

I like black, it does bring out the colors but in my opinion its not natural. I use play sand from home depot, it looks nice, is real fine, and is very cheap! I have the play sand in my 75 and black sand in my two 25's

Pool filter sand + koralai 4 + fx5 = epic ;)

yea pfs is a good choice. its heavy enough to be cleaned with a siphon tube. i opted to tile because its a hell of a lot easier to clean.

A white gravel can wash out a fishes color. An off white mixture is better. Black is sweet but shows everything.
Put in what you like, you gotta look at it every day and clean it as well.;)

Pool filter sand = Cheap, its what I have in my 180 and 75 planted.
Black Sand = Expensive, was too expensive tight budget.

dark substrate makes your fish darker and brings out blacks. light substrates makes your fish lighter.

personally I don't like white because algae and crap shows up on it, kinda like spots on a white shirt.

Where do I get this wonderful pool filter sand?
