Substrate for Datnoids??

What colour substrate do you keep your datnoids with?

What do you find brings out their colours the best?

Ive been through a few pics I have and so far have seen good coloured datnoids with a few types of substrate or none at all.

Do you think a black substrate would bring out the colours or encourage the datnoids to stay black and hide??

Thanks for any experiences.

I originally had my indo dat in a tqnk with black gravel and he stayed rather dark in that tank. Once I moved him into another tank with a light colored sand, he looked much better. There were other factors that I think made him more colorful in the new tank, but I think the lighter substrate did play a role in his transformation.

only keep mine in light sand and it is always bright
