substrate for rays?

hey everyone. looking for a safe sandy substrate for my new reticulated ray =). something in the nature of estes marine reef sand or maybe BD trading aquarium sand. any good brands anyone?!?
 
Just make sure it is NOT silica sand!
 
I'm a rookie in the ray department, but I use black eco-complete amazon substrate. it's like dirt almost and is very soft. doesnt cloud and comes with all sorts of beneficial bacteria already packed in... this stuff is GOLD. i love this stuff. I have it in anotehr tank.
 
doesnt silica sand have sharp edges or something? it irritates the underbelly, but that's all i know. the experts should chime in.

im using neptunes saescape aggregates gravel my ray are ok
 
silicon will harm the belly of your ray. DO not get it. I used this stuff called red flint sand. It was sold by the pound at my pet store. It was like 20 cents a pound. I think I have heard of people using sand from like lowes and stuff. Of course you must make sure it has no silicon in it. Umm you might want to double check on that.
