Substrate Question

Should I go bare bottom or sand for my Clown Loaches. Please give reason with answer. Thanks for the advice.

Sand....

They naturally dig around in the substrate looking for food. Sand that is not course, lends to their tendencies.

i have bare bottom,fine gravel and sand never really noticed a difference in there behavior all personal preference IMO

Definitely sand. One should always try to imitate their natural habitat as much as possible or have you heard about rivers and streams that have shiny glass bottom?

Loaches will be more active in an environment that provides the ability to mimic their natural behavior. Lots of retreats and a fine substrate to dig through will give them this.

I tried bare and smooth gravel but I'd say sand.
