Could one use very fine course crush coral as substrate ? The bags I have are as fine and course as pool filter sand .
I have my three foot SA lungfish on pool filter sand and he buries his head in the sand and sift through his gills .. Very interesting behavoir .

I have pfs in with my aus lungfish and motoro Ray, They seem to love it, I wouldn't change to coral unless u wanna change ur ph.

Is pfs too corse for rays and lungfish? Iv noticed it can scratch and wear watever part they drag in the sand, anyone else noticed this with pfs???

Fine substrate is preferred over rough substrates.

Would u call pfs fine or rough?

Normal sand is too fine and dusty IMO

is pfs ok to use with Aussie lungfish???

By the way iv had fine crushed coral as substrate- not as good as pfs too many sharp pieces from shells etc IMO

The very fine crushed coral will change the pH, but it will also keep the pH much more stable due to its buffering capacity.

I would say that PFS (Pool Filter Sand, right?) falls more on the fine side rather than rough like crushed coral or gravel, but it's definitely more rough than, say, aragonite sand with sugar-sized grains. PFS is perfectly fine to use with pretty much any fish, including an AUL.
