What is the best substrate for kamfa? Currently i have playsand but with each wc more and more leaves via syphon down to about 1.5” now. I liked that the sand kept any detrius in view ao when i did a wc i knew it was clean and not hiding. From what ive read im leaning toward crushed coral, like i used to have in my african tank. Any suggestions?

Flowerhorns aren't too particular on type of substrate. Just make sure the substrate is light in color. Get some cheap river rock from Home Depot, or, if you want to stick with sand, get some pool filter sand. Crushed coral is fine too.

How are you syphoning the sand that you suck up so much of it?

^^^^^I agree with this question here..... I use play sand in all of my tanks, and never get any of it sucked into my syphon tube. I always go down til the syphon tube is about 1/2" above the sand, and the suction normally picks up any fish waste, and if there's anything "too heavy" to get sucked up I just run the syphon back and forth a couple times to stir it up then I just syphon it out.
