i have decided to switch substrate from gravel to T-grade color quartz. i have done a couple of days worth of research on t- grade color quartz and it took me another couple of days to finally find a person that know what i was talking about and that had some in stock and was willing to sell to me at 40 dollar for a 50 pound bag a little steeper then i thought. so what my question is has anybody used and do you guys like it? Also how much of it does it tank to fill a 55 galloon tank.

I assume this is a sand? Not familiar with the t-grade, how big are the granules? I think you'd be ok with a single bag of it for a 55gal, though I personally would prob do about 60-70lbs.

hmmm ... my 50 has 80-90 pounds of Sand in it... gives me around 2.5 to 3 inches of base

its is sand like but it is bigger then sand well the granules are bigger

well that should be enough to fill up the 55 gallon on a 50 pound bag of sand.it should get up to 1" on the bottom of the tank but depends on the size of the granules.

i got my t-grade color quartz yesterday and it took one 51 lb bag to fill the tank up

how deep is it in your tank?

1 and a half inch or 2 in

I guess that sounds about right ... 25 pounds per inch in my tank aswell ...
