Substrate?

So what substrate and depth does everyone use with their monsters? We have used sand and large stones and bare bottom before and none were ideal.

I also have sand and like it, although it shows the fish waste, so you have to gravel it often depending on the amount and size of fish in the tank.

What everyone prefers and works the best for them

I prefer sand my fish seem to like it much more than gravel. I also find i easy to clean Gonna make an air powered poo vac one of these days so I can clean the surface without a water change.

I prefer sand also. I like the more natural look of it and I enjoy watching my fish sift through it.

I use thicker sand like torpedo beach and only use about half an inch ......the powerheads usually are enough to pick up the waste from the bottom but not strong enougj to move the sand
