There has been some discussion about breeding exodon. I wanted to relay my recent experience with my 21 exodon in a 55. 9" Delhzi poly, BN pleco and rope fish also in the tank.
Thursday 60% water change with water 2 degrees cooler than existing, pH 5.8, 35% planted tank with amazon swords and moss. Water temperature 80 degrees Egg laying scattered on sides of tank and plants early on Sunday. First fry hatched Monday, more eggs can been seen as of Tuesday.

Successfully 'saved' three fry and relocated to a fry tank but I assume many were eaten. I expect to see more fry today and I will hopefully be able to get to them more quickly.

Congrats.
Please also report hardness (kH, gH) and nitrate levels, measured.
How long are your lights on, did you switch bulbs recently?
What do you feed?
Any water additives? Prime? Vitamins?

Thanks!

not certain of my kH and gH but New York city water is soft (but I also use an airstone). KH 19 (mg/, CaCO3)) and GH 2.? Lights left on for 2-3 hours a day (around 6-9pm). Same bulbs, actinic blue and 10k. Feeding tetra color and tetra flakes with occasional meal worm and red wigglers. I use API concentrated tap water conditioner as the only additie. weekly water changes. So far only 3 fry.

Did 3 exodon fry survive?

No and in truth I am now not 100% certain they were exodon fry. I cannot be certain the fry were not from feeder fish I had fed the exodon and had some how survived and bred.
