Just had to share, got my 3" cichla on pellets already :D hes eating basically anything i throw in there now, the 4-5" cichla that was only on feeders is now eating frozen bloodworms and mysis. OH YEAH!:headbang2

congrats!

if i have one piece of advice it would be that competition plays a big part. the more fish he sees start a feeding frenzy the more they are inclined to join in. :)

nice. I am about the start the fun task of getting my 4 inch kelberi of live. Kill me

I bought Haychinook's kelberi which was only on live. After about two days of starving and watching my orino (a little bigger in size than the kelberi) slam pellets and food sticks he was attacking them too.

I tried hikari carnivor sinking pellets shortly after, they went for those instantly. Now they're both eating massivore like pigs.

Competition and other fish already on pellets in the same tank helps a lot.

My only fish still on live is my gar that I got a little over a week ago. He's in a 55g by himself now until he gets big enough to do pellet training.

Congrats, stick to non-live, there like children, once they get a taste of sugar, theres no going back to sugar-free........

Haha, thats a good analogy.

Mine get feeders maybe once a month as a treat, but its usually only about 4-5 guppies and they're gone before they even realize what they just ate. But yeah, I never give them any continuously, I don't want them to revert back to their old ways.
