I have had my female flower for about 8 months or so now and have finally broke her off of live black worms! It took me 3 attempts using the starvation method and she has successfully took chopped Canadian night crawlers 2 days in a row now.

Just wanted to share my excited because I am so sick of buying and ordering live black worms. The amount of money I have spent on those has been ridiculous.

Congratulations mate! That's great news, chuffed for you. Hopefully this means you'll be able to wean her onto pellets and prawns etc. slowly, marinaded in with the night crawlers

LOL, congrats on the crawlers. Now hopefully its not 8 months to wean off them.
I know the feeling, took me 11 months to finally get my BD off crawlers onto shrimp. Totally refused no matter what. Then one day last week out of the blue I threw tilapia and shrimp in and he was eating shrimp on his own.

I was lucky enough that mine ate NC's and silversides right away but can't get her on pellets at all.

Didn't want to make a new thread but I had some massive success today with my flower because I had some worms go bad and haven't had the new ones come in yet so I've just been feeding my 6" wc male mantilla in the same tank split hikari massivore for the past 3 days with no worms.

Well the flower has been interested for the past few weeks and would chomp and spit out but today she is smashing them and destroying the little guy whenever he tries to take one.

Its been a long rough year with this flower from a sump breaking, over stressing due to moves (redid the hardwood and had to shuffle rays around as I went), not eating anything at all for a month straight at two separate times to now taking pellets. She has only grown about an inch or so this past year due to how tough it was to keep her eating and just finally shed her first stinger. She has been the hardest fish to keep by far, even day 1 pups that I bred were easier to keep, or malnourished wc pups.

Either way I'm absolutely thrilled and look forward to seeing her pack on the weight over the next few months. She is currently at 11 or so inches nose to base of tail.

Awesome news, funny your flower took to worms. I have kept multiple flowers and of course tigers two different times. All my flowers took to ghost shrimp right away and I was able to convert to frozen shrimp in about a month. I transitioned from live ghost shrimp to fresh killed ghost shrimp to killed ghost shrimp mixed with thawed shrimp then to just shrimp. The tiger I have had are worms only but at least they are night crawlers and regular worms, not those nasty black worms

Going off of your suggestion at the beginning when I was asking for ideas/help,I ordered a bunch of ghost shrimp from my LFS but she never showed signs of interest in them and I got stuck with the nasty black worms for over six months until she took night crawlers and now finally on to pellets. Finicky little ray.
