About 2 weeks ago i went to look at my pond, and noticed thousands of tiny eggs all over the planted section of my pond. The only fish i have in my pond are guppies, Feeder comets, fancy comets, and one koi. I assumed it was the feeders eggs because on of the feeders got super fat only on the left side of the fish (where the comets eggs develop). Also i knew it was that fish because all the other feeders were on the small side, and all the other feeders had breeding bumps on its gills (only the fat one didnt). I moved the plants with alll the eggs out of the pond and into a few couple gallon tanks i had laying around. I moved them because they wouldve all gotten eaten. I was extremely suprised at how fast my eggs hatched. usually they are supposed to hatch around 6-7 days later, but mine hatched within 2 days!!!!!!!! The first few days the babys just layed around on the bottom and on the plants. Once i knew all the eggs were hatched, i removed all the plants to make sure the mold from the hatched eggs wouldnt pollute the tank. Its been around 2 weeks since the eggs hatched and im feeding the fry powdered flakes. I estimate that theres around 1000-1500 fry!!!. I cant wait for them to grow and my pond is going to be stuffed with comets. Im hoping that with that much goldfish, in the future ill have a self sufficient breeding pond (not having to remove the eggs).
If anyone has any questions about my comet breeding project ill try to help the best that i can.
