I'm so glad that all of my fish made it from L.A. to Seattle that I just had to start a new thread.

So, I checked in my 11 clown loaches, 3 bala sharks, 3 giant danios, and 1 flying fox on the plane and didn't know what to expect. This was my first time moving fish, so I expected a few casualties. The loaches were in a bag within an ice chest and the balas, danios, and flying fox were, unbeknownst to me, packed in just a plain cardbaord box with various other aquarium equipment (this is why, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself). So, flash forward 12 hours to me picking up my stuff at the baggage claim. The ice chest looks fine, but the cardboard box was a box in name only as it sat in a growing puddle of brown water. Apparently, my friend forgot to take the water out of the filters before packing them and the box was leaking. When I get back home, I open the ice chest first because I expect the clown loaches to be fine and it turns out I was correct. Then comes the soggy excuse for a box. I open it, look in the bag, see all of the fish red and belly up, and start cursing at my frind in L.A. As I' m about to dump the bag, I see a bala twitch and immediately add all of the fish to a bucket of aquarium water. After about an hour of cycling the bucket water, all were back but a little loopy. Two days later, all are all right in their 125g tank which is a step up from their former 55g home. Thanks to all who took the time to read this lengthy post. Sorry, but pics are the only reward that I have.

Awesome! Which airline lets you check in live fish? I'm doing a bit of flying the next few weeks. And I was worried when my FH had to take a 1.5 hour drive with me today!

12 hours, a long time. I had to drive my guys 3 hours when i moved and they were all shook up. Im glad everybody made it.

Alaska Airlines, and it's $100 if you tell them. (I figured the fee was worth it for the clowns alone. the biggest is 3") I think they put the live animals in a special compartment. However, since I didn't know that half of my fish were in a box, I think they were put in with the regular cargo. You could try not declaring them and see what happens.

Sorry for the quick follow up, but I just remembered something about traveling with fish. Be prepared to tell a lot of people that no, you do not have a puppy in your sealed box/ice chest :). One guy looked like he was ready to bust open the box and save the "puppy."

So it says live animals on the box? thats funny.

Nice!
