Spotted this FH in one of my LFS. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING fader !

........ except look at the deformed pectoral fin, either from a congenital malformation or a really bad bite early in life. All for £25 !

Personally I suspect a bad bite, down to the root, as the cause. The fish would be great for breeding I suspect. Great genes !

Yeah thats not really an indicator of any kind of deformation considering all the other fins seem fine. He will survive fine with his little handicap. Not great quality, But certainly a good deal for $35.

Really ? I thought it had real potential (ignoring the fin). Only 4", Good colouring already with much more pearling than virtually all other faders I see out there. The other negative would be the lack of decent kok, of course, but that could develop in time .... the fish is not being kept in a particularly great environment. I own one of this fish's siblings and it's kok sprouted big-time after I got it home and into a nice environment.

Dont get me wrong, Excellent quality for an LFS, But not anything I would pay for shipping for. I believe thats the threshold for me. If im willing to pay for shipping, Great quality haha.
As far as pattern goes, This guy looks great. The anal fin and tail are very weak though. Im not favorable to the trimac mouth either. Something in the front half doesnt say quality to me. I cant see it growing up like the guy in my avatar. Have a look at Hondas fader and you might be able to see a difference in build. When I say great, I mean great. This is excellent quality for a local pick-up though.

Yeah I do see what you mean. Its true that my brain always picks up on the colouration and patterning mostly (as that is the most important thing to me personally). Body shape is still a factor for me, but is down the list when I assess a fish. I know in the far east, the body shape is HUGELY important.

Merely on colouring, I like this fish better than Honda's although I can see that it probably will not match it in build.

First of all, I would like to start off by saying deformity is not a shame..
This fish certainly looks great for lfs standard & I would grab it in a heartbeat..
As stated earlier, if it looked this good cramped with other fhs in a small space then I'm sure it will mature into a stunning specimen when given the right tlc, clean water & lots of space..
