Suction cup hardened

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if you guys have alternatives to buying replacement suction cups for filter intakes, spray bars, etc. Heaters are probably in the same situation as well...although heaters can sit on the tank floor. You can buy the replacements, but they are expensive, only to harden and render useless again. I'm wondering if there's a more permanent solution to this.

I've used the fluval suctions cups, and they've remained pliable for me for around 7 years (still using them) when I replaced the eheim ones. I've got hard water too.

I've just realized that some hardened suction cups can be rejuvenated by a simple solution: by soaking them in hot water for a few mins. I had nothing to lose, so I just tried it on some that were almost 20 yrs old, and it worked.
