Suction cups

Has anyone found a way to rejuvenate are to prolong the life of suction cups under water? I have 10 or 12 in various spots in my 240, including securing the egg crate that divides my tank. After 4 to 6 months get hard and curl and eventually drop off. I order them a dozen at a time from eheim. It's just annoying.

Rub them firmly between your fingers with a tiny amount of white petroleum jelly til they are very warm and pliable. When I say tiny, I mean TINY!!! About a 1/8" bead of it on one of your fingers when you start. There shouldn't be enough for you to smear any of it anywhere. When the exposed side in the water starts to get that scaley look or feel (about every 2 months), take them out and rub the rough stuff off. The side against the glass should still be smooth. Repeat the application and reinstall.

I've gotten mine to last about 2 yrs by doing this. But you're right! Their suction cups suck!
 
Have you thought about magnets? Those mag-clips are a bit pricey, but they've been doing me justice for many years now. I got mine on Amazon for a little over $8/clip.

I wanted to know if someone ship to EU.
From ebay or amazon... I saw those magnets months ago but didn't find anybody who post to EU...
for 15mm glass.
 
Hmmm...I've recieved stuff from overseas when I ordered off Amazon before. Takes some time, but it get here (usually about a month). Not sure how eBay or Amazon works over in EU.
 
Ive been wondering the same thing because i loathe suction cups. I've gone so far as to hard plumb all my canisters with pvc and strap them to the stand.

My LFS sells replacement heater holder suction cups for like $2 a pair and they are the good silicone ones.

A few years back i bought a pack of 100 clear suction cups for fastening Christmas lights to windows for like $5. They worked really well.

I realy like this product because after few years you are saving some money... :)
Right now i use eheim suction cups.
