Well my 72x30x24 came today the driver was only allowed to drop off at door my oldest son and my wife plus driver managed to get it into my garage but I will need to get it into my house was wondering if I can use suction cups to lift it into my house from my garage .I didn't realise it was so heavy it has 12mm glass .T driver told me a horror story of a customer dropping an 8ft tank and smashing it trying to get it into their house .To be honest I was terrified as at one point I saw my wife loosing grip but we managed t get it into the garage. So I am thinking of getting 4 heavy duty suction cups and lifting it onto a wheeled dolly and wheeling into my house will have to navigate a step from the garage to my kitchen .

How would the suction cups help? Just to have a grip?
They make some strong ones for handling glass etc, like the ones people use to climb glass buildings.
Personally even if they are rated for higher weight I wouldn't trust it, think you are better off getting some strong dudes to help you. Taskrabbit is an app that people use to get laborers. Or theres the old fashioned way of home depot parking lot or wherever people gather near you.

When I was in NYC any time we moved a tank of size whether glass or acrylic we used heavy duty suction cups. These make a huge difference in the ability to maintain control of a slick object. Definitely get a furniture dolly or 2 for maneuvering once it's in the house unless you have deep carpet.

Yep, suction cups like fishguy's pick. They work great. gives you a good handhold, hold well. On a 72" you could could put 3 on each side and I bet half a dozen people could move it without too much drama. Well, a lot less drama than trying to hold onto it without them. My 4 foot was basically no drama for two people with suction cups. Being able to put a good solid handhold wherever is convenient is a HUGE help.

I've rented a set of those lever-actuated suction handles so many times that I should have just bought a couple pairs; probably would have worked out cheaper.

They are very easy to use, extremely comfortable, totally trouble-free. I've never had them fail me...and yet I still don't trust them 100%! :)

Just looked up renting them here, $20/4 hours for a single suction cup. Seems high, but cheaper than buying your own I guess.

Wow. I disremember what I paid last time but I know it was cheaper than that. And I'm talking Canadian money, so... you know...practically worthless. :)

This thread got me looking around on the web. I can get these for about C$34 apiece at Home Depot locally, and that is for the type that has two individual suction cups joined by a bar that forms the handle. Using that type is much more confidence-inspiring than the single cups. I will be picking up a pair for future endeavours. :)
