Sugar Gliders ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You might get better responses if this was moved to the Reptile, Amphibian and Exotics Forum. I know threads about sugar gliders have been brought up recently and a few people who have them post in there.

They pee on everything, and it has a very strong stink. Claws are sharp, so be cautious about who has them crawling on them (that goes for the peeing, too lol). As with any pet of that type, they require lots of attention to keep friendliness at a good level. Not really a family-type pet to me, but I've known lots of younger singles that have been happy with them.

nothing like resurrecting an old thread muyahahhahahhaha

why vile

I like mine they just require a bit of attention and there you go, took me a good few months to where I could get them not to crabb when I would try to touch them

wish i could have them. i would love to build an enclosure for them down in my basement(with the rest of the growing collection). love to know more info from u guys!

I looked into these very serious a month ago. I was looking to get a pair for my girlfriend and myself. We even went as far as to go visit a lady who was keeping 8 of them herself to see what it was like.

They're very cool little animals. They do require a fairly high level of attention to remain socialized, it seems. If they're not socialized, they aren't happy with you messing with the tank and "crab" at you.

They do pretty much go to the bathroom wherever they want, but I didn't notice any particular smell when they did. The lady who had them said she got used to it pretty quick, and just never wore really nice clothes when she had them out. They do have a specific odor to them, but its not as bad as ferrets or some other small mammals that people keep, and I'm sure you get used to it pretty quickly.

Their nutritional needs are also pretty time intensive as well. They have a fairly strict diet they need to be fed, or else they can develop several different kinds of dissorders.

Other than that, they're cute little buggers.

here's another forum devoted to sugar gliders that helped me a lot with finding out more information:
