Hi,

I have a 12 gallon fish tank with seachem flourite black sand and just a standard light. I have some inverts in the tank. I wanna add a few easy plants. Ive had Anacharis before and I know they are easy. So soemthing similar. If at all possible something that doesnt require much trimming/pruning either. I also wont be dosing any fertilizers. Thanks

I got Java moss already in the tank. Im also planning on not doing anymore gravel vacs, is this ok as long as I have plants? The tank I have is one of those eclipse systems and its such a pain in the butt to do gravel vacs. You have to take off the whole hood and light in order to have any access. Very frustrating. But I can still change water out jsut dont wanna mess with the sand anymore.

Amazon swords, Microsorium, Bacopa, Anubias, Crypts(wendtii) are all easy to grow, slow growers that should fit the bill for you! If you`ve only got inverts in the tank, you probably ought to add some ferts once in a while.

Gravel vacs don`t need to be done that often imo, so once every 2~3 months should be OK.

I would get some kind of cory or loach for the tank. Something that disturbs the gravel when it eats or moves, but stays small. That way if there are any air pockets that form in the gravel they have a better chance of escaping.

Yeah maybe an otto. Plus the sand is like a clay, and usually keeps stuff on the surface. But thats why I wanted some plants too, so that atleast some of this stuff can work like a fertilizer.

Anyone got any sugestions for rooted plants with what I have set up? Also, they need to be snail safe plants. My anacharis was devoured by snails.
