Suggestion for new ray owner.

I'm picking up my first motoro next week and am very excited about it. Is there any quick suggestion on keeping the bottom bare or graveled or sand. Just looking for individual preferences. And I've seen plastic pieces on stingers of some pics I've seen what's that all about.

Substrate is personal preference. I prefer barebottom myself as its easier to clean and just keeps everything more simple. As for the plastic tubes on stingers, they're just so rays dont puncture the bags during shipping. DO NOT try to put one on yourself as you WILL get tagged. They're pretty useless once the ray is in the aquarium anyways.

those tubes on stingers can lead to bacterial infections also! I prefer a fine layer of sand

any color preference? I have read that the stinger shed is hard to see in certain sand, and thanks for the comments guys.
