So been out of the fishkeeping circle for a while. I have a 120G with a GT, 2 silver dollars and an old old Bala Shark(like 13 yrs old).

Anyway my male GT is a few years old and apparently just hit the ahole stage. He killed a large BP(which I didn't care for really) this week. Now the tank looks empty and I'm looking for suggestions. The GT is about 6" long so not a big boy yet.

I do have a hybrid fish in a separate tank it's dad was a Texas and mother was the recently dead BP. I would consider adding him to the 120 but he's grown up in a tank alone and seems to be extremely aggressive. My 120 is only a 4' tank and the GT historically has been somewhat of a wimp until recently.

So any ideas? Thanks.

If you do add anything, I suggest removing the GT from the tank before adding whatever new fish. Then, after a couple of days when the new fish have claimed a territory, add the GT back into the mix. From what you've said, if you just throw in the new fish in with the aggressive GT, there's a good chance he'll just kill them right off the bat.

Here is an idea. Move the tex/bp hybrid to the 120 and move the gt to my empty 55. Maybe find a female for the gt and have a pair?

But what to add with the hybrid if I do that?

Why not leave the hybrid where it is and consider getting a female GT for the male in the 120? If you set the tank up correctly with some caves and areas the female can get into that the male can't it should be ok.

I do have a question; Why is your male GT only 6" and "a few years old"? What is your maintenance schedule/water perameters? I would suspect it (the GT) should be much larger than that by now and sounds a little stunted. If you're not you should be preforming weekly 50% water changes. What type of filtration is on the tank? What is the diet/feeding schedule? I'm not trying to be critical, I'm just trying to point out some things to look at before considering any more fish. Fish will slowly acclamate to less than ideal conditions over time so although they may live they will not reach their potential in these conditions, additionally any new fish added would most likly not make past a few days.

He's always been a extremely slow grower. I think it had parasites when it was younger and I took care of it but he has always seemed stunted.

I have 2 Cascade 1500's running. about 60% water changes weekly. Feed 5 times a week a variety of foods.
