Hi everybody

80g tank..what do you guys suggest as residents? New in this forum and this site is wonderful

Oscar? how many can fit if they reach adult size? 1 or 2 or 3-maybe stretching -- if 1 or 2 any tank mates you guys can recommend? SD's, Mono?

Any other big fish you guys can suggest...I had a decent experience with fish -- more or less...but of course still a newb compared to most of you guys who had been doing this continuously. Had pet fishes - back several years before -- cichlids mainly and black arro (both in 100g tanks) -- now going back in the hobby again. 80g is the most appropriate size that I can fit in my home and most I can spend.

suggestions would be greatly appreciated

thanks

1 oscar for a 80g along with a pleco no larger than 12 inches. If you are willing to do plenty of water changes, then that is fine.

You can forget the aros as they will quickly outgrow the tank. Monos are brackish water species. If you like silver dollars, then you can try uarus or severums for centerpiece along with a few plecos (depending on the species you can obtain).

I'm not familiar with the dimensions of an 80 gal tank, but you should have room for that one oscar, although adding more could be pushing it, unless it is something small, like another smaller scrappy cichlid
