The tank is tall, may be a 29 high, current fish are 6 cardinals, a german ram, a dwarf gourami, a baby long fin bristlenose pleco, and a 5-6'' fire eel. (I know the fire eel will out grow the tank, I moved him out of a 55 because my clown loaches are pigs and its hard to get bloodworms to him.) Fire eel has not touched a cardinal and its been 2 weeks its super shy.
Anyways I was wondering if a butterfly fish would eat the cardinals, they swim more in the midlevel, I have never kept a butterfly, but notice that they primarily seem to stay on the top of the tank. I have also read they like feeder guppys, so figure they will be lunch correct? Any input would be great! I am looking small fish 3'' or less, I would like to pick up possible a synodonyis cat, or corys. Just Brainstorming, I could always trade in the cardinals if they are on the lunch menu.
Thanks.

i think you shouldnt anymore fish to that tank.

When you move out the eel, add another bristlenose IMO

Clown Pleco or maybe 2 or 3 of SAE's .

Or 4 more Neon's or another Ram or maybe 3 - 5 Corys .

IMO you should get rid of all your current fish and go for a nice oddballs tank..1 x siamese spiny eel, 2 x ABFs, 4 x leopard ctenopoma

Cardinal tetras are on lunch menu.
Yep, I figured. I was skeptical becuase I always saw them at the top of tanks, but with a mouth like an arrowana, i THOUGHT TWICE! Lunch!

I am trying to put more show into the plants and color. I already have plenty of oddball tanks!:D Thanks for the suggestions, thats why I am already growing out the fire eel. I have kept ctenopoma species before and they get two big for what I am looking for, and I already have the ram and tetras, so I am just going to go from there. I think I am pretty much stocked! haha Maybe a Blue Ram will look nice to go with my yellow.

Leopard ctenopomas get too big for a 29 IMO, especially 4.
