Hi all, I have a 125g. tank that I'm in the process of building a stand for. I want to set up a nice driftwood decorated tank with some plants also and was just curious as to what type of fish everyone would recommend for populating the tank once its up and running. I have some fish in mind but would just like to see some other ideas also.
I was planning originally to have a couple Oscars in it but decided against it due to the 50% weekly water changes that would kill my  'already high ' water bill.

Convert the tank into a planted tank....Make the greenery your showcase....I've seen many tanks in the 100g+ range that were dedicated to plants.....Throw in a school of 20-30Neon Tetras...Or, throw in a school of 10 Congo Tetra and you got yourself a living portrait.....

Throw some big dumb pacus in there and call it quits;)

my 120g has an oscar and i put 2 filters in that are 120g each so its pumpin 2x the normal and i have 2 plecos that eat up the alg but i do a water change about 25% every outher week and my water is crystal clear now.. But you should do this get alota plants and some driftwood.. then get like a pleco or 2 maybe some bala sharks in a shool or silver dolls

or just go all out with some shool fish that are very colorful.

But what i was planing on doing with my tank was this :

Lots of live plants and some java moss:

1 big peice of drift wood:

2 baby tiger oscars
2 plecos
4 silver dolls
4 bala sharks
and was thinking some sort of top water fish

if you do this you can feed them mostly flakes/pellets.

dude, plecos. some plecos like royals and GNs love driftwood, so theyd be heaven!

HAHA I had a nice sized Panaque a few months back that absolutely tore driftwood apart! My prefilter looked like it was loaded with coffee grinds!

If you put some live plants they eat up the nitrates so you dont have to do as many water changes.

As for stock....I own mostly cichlids so im kinda biased. Go with the oscars and maybe a severum?

125g and driftwood... are they centerpieces or should be on the corners/end of the tank?would you like the tank as a growout, or keeper? I have a 125 right now, and I wish I can take a snapshot of of it, it has about four 15 - 23 inch driftwood, and about 8 inches high piled side by side instead of upwards. some hornsworth that I got online, a five gallon bucket for $6 bucks with shipping. PFury guy MRizo from michigan, no lights or heaters, and havce about 4-6 inch albino Senegalus bichirs. Two Goldie plecos and two Vampire plecos...had to change water every 3 days...also, two males and one female Columbian Rams.I think I forgot that one Hiccup!
