I just picked up a band new 600 gal acrylic tank for my stingrays.
I wanted to run this huge dolphin pump
For more water flow but i wasn't sure if i should put a filter on it.
I'm already going to run a fresh water refusium sump thats going to filter 400 gph and a drip system on top of that.
I appreciate any ideas
Thanks

Very nice filter. But kinda pricey. $1000
U think a bead filter is the only way to go?

If you want cheap, here it is: go with a couple of RTL spa filters for some extreme mechanical filtration. We run two RTL 25s with a hammerhead pump on our 300 gallon tank. Love the setup so much, I'm going with six RTL100s on our big tank. The RTLs are strictly for mechanical filtration. Since we've been using RTLs I've come across several big tank setups online that utilize RTL-like filters for mechanical filtration.

If you want perfectly clear water and very very low maintenance get a Hayward DE pool filter. They are a great deal at a little more than a couple hundred bucks. See my signature for a link to one on amazon.

Hmmm.... they appear to currently be on sale for $183.67. You are going to have a very hard if not impossible time finding a better filter anywhere near this price!

If you are just looking to create flow in the tank, there are much cheaper methods than running that pump. What is the exact model so we can take a look at the specs?

If you just want to create more flow in the tank, you should instead run some powerhead's...I'm pretty sure they will use about 1/10 the electricity of that pump, so buying them will probably pay for themselves in terms of the savings you will see every month on your power bill.

If the sump at 400GPH is your only other filtration, I would also recommend running an Ultima.

Interesting set up you have, care to elaborate a bit more? What's the point of the massive filter on that tank when the eheim and sump are probably plenty.

Not sure of model til i get home from work. But the side of pump says 4000 gph. And it has 1 1/2 pipes on both sides

Could i just screen the intake and use it for water movement? I really should use some kind of mechinical filter thou.
Just thinking
