im selling 9 piranha, all around 7-8". they will be in this container for transport for 4 or 5 hours. i was thinking some sort of rubermaid or similar would be best. but i need to make sure it will hold the water weight and support it. does anyone have any suggestion on the cheapest and best one to get, and where i can get it locally? i was thinking of one about 3' by 2' filled with 10 - 20 gallons of water. thanks a lot.

Use a cooler or go to target and get a rubbermaid tub. Coolers help keep the temp of the water more constant. Use a battery powered air pump too ( walmart has them)

the thing is, i will be meeting the buyer and then just giving him the container. i dont really want to spend a lot of money on a cooler and a battery powered air pump just to give it to him... im pretty sure theyll be fine without an air pump. especially if you just splash the water around every couple hours.

about the rubbermaid...are they all strong enough to hold water? i know people use them for sumps a lot but i didnt know if there is a certain kind or model i sould be looking at. like maybe for garden use or something...

What about getting one of those styrofoam containers that fish stores get sometimes when they get some new fish in. You should just go around to fish/pet stores and ask if they are willing to give you one of those containers. Even if they will want some money for one of those containers it shouldn't be more than five bucks.

And the cool thing? You will not have to bag the fish up, at least that's what I saw one store doing. You can just put them in there.

try lfs or restaurants, some of them get frozen stuff in styros, or buy a cheap walmart cooler. it may still be better to bag the fish, the water may slosh around too much. if you don't bag, then run a little bait pump with an airstone, they're cheap at walmart too. that's a lot of fish to keep alive for 4 hours in a single sytro, you may need more than one.
