I'm setting up my 220 in a month once i get moved into my new place. I have a 200 Gallon Wet/dry Sump with mag 12 and dual overflow rated for 1200 gph on it. Also have a aquaclear 110 with sponge and biological that comes with it. Now, to from there is where i'm trying to decide what to do. I was thinking of getting another aquaclear 110, but was thinking of putting 2 sponges in it instead for polishing, but didn't know how effective that would actually be. Maybe a magnum 250? or a sunsun 403b canister with strickly mechanical in it, but then the maintenance would not be as easy as with a hang on the back for mechanical changing.

So, thoughts would be great or if someone knows another great mechanical please let me know.

Thats a huge wet dry for a 220g tank. throw some filter socks in that wet dry with different microns. Jesus why not get a 100g wet dry and make two tanks out of one. lol

I should have been more clear lol, it's rated for 200 gallon :) Filter socks are not an option because it's a pre-built wet/dry that is bought from the store (I know i could've made one of a 55, but got a good deal on this).

Ive seen the magnum 250s do a marvolous job but that was on a 40gallon. No idea about larger tanks and would wonder myself if it would work for a tank of 200g+.

220g requires a good turn over rate in order to get the polished look otherwise particle will float in the tank.
Here's my polisher on my 260g. 3000gph with a crushed glass filter. Backwashes in a flash.

Whats that running you lol?

You'll be surprised. Cheaper than a lot of the home made filters out there. Do you want to put a price tag on the time spent cleaning the filter? pm me if you seriously want to know. 16"dia filter, 30# of media, industrial strength, not a cheapy filter that can't turn high vol of water or leaks under high pressure. Good up to 500g tank. OP's requesting a polisher....this is a polisher.

Any other ideals out there?
