So I'm getting married June 2017. I was very happy when the Fiance suggested south or Central America as the the destination because I've wanted to visit the rainforest my entire life and either continent will have some cool tropical jungle like environments to explore.
Our initial idea is to spend the first 3 days to a week on a bit of an adventure and we're thinking a riverboat tour of some kind. This can be anything from a nicer riverboat to more of a roughing it experience. We would be happy if the end of the river tour would end near a resort that we could easily travel to and spend the second week relaxing in comfort.
For those that have traveled or experienced this part of the world first hand, I would like to hear some suggestions that are similar to our vision. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. The safety of my fiancé and I are of course paramount so any river tour will need to be well vetted and be experienced in this type of thing. Would hate to wind up broke down in the jungle somewhere because the Mrs. won't be into it.
