I have a 125g That currently has a mess of RH taps, blue acara, and heckelii that I am growing out and will be thinning the stock on soon. I am planning to get a few more plecos to add and am wondering what folks would choose with the current inhabitants. There is an L075 and L178(which I have had a hard time finding any real info on). They are both astonishingly active and eat nearly whatever is about. They tend to eat the NLS that's left over from the SA community and then they let a good biofilm build up on all the driftwood and clean it real good once a week. It's funny because the wife calls them the cleaners. One day the wood looks horrendous, the next is as new as the day I put it in.

The plecos I was looking at were the L24, L25, L200, L014, and L114. I keep the tank around 83*F and have a koralia 1500 powerhead that I run every other afternoon over the rocks I have set up (both the L075 and L178 love this and will move to that side of the tank and sit side by side in the high current that the powerhead pushes - it's really awesome to watch).

I have 2 XP-3's and 1 AC100 as far as filtration goes and do a biweekly 50-70% water change because I'm anal about it. I'd do it daily if I knew it wasn't a stresser for the fish.:D

All that said, what would you suggest from the list, or maybe something I haven't seen or thought of? As soon as I find a reasonably priced 300g, it's going in my office so grabbing an L-series that grows to 15" isn't a problem as long as I have at least 2 years to grow it out in the 125 (which fro some of the things I've read is easily doable given their slow growth rates)

My total budget including shipping is likely going to be between 4-500$

That's my problem, I'd like both! lol I will when I get the bigger tank, but for now can only have one of the two. I'm more inclined to go with 2 larger species over a smaller group just because I really enjoy the size of these guys.

I was also looking at L418 and L090 but I can't find any real strong info on them outside of the fact they eat wood. No idea on temps etc.

My L075 was out after a water change and is sitting underneath the output on an xp-3.

Well after discussing with the wife last night, these are the ones that remained on the love to have list:

L114 leopard cactus
L014 Sunshine / Goldy
L027 long nose royal
L200 Green phantom
L024 Redfin Cactus

It's almost impossible to narrow down to 3 because we like them all so much -.-

I'd go L14, L27 and L200, but that's just personal taste :p
L14 are very interesting in terms of feeding though.

+1 on that choice. The L24 is by far the most aggressive of those species. Full grown L14, L27, and L200 will get along great provided you they have their own territories.
