Just curious as to how many heaters and of what wattage I would need to properly heat the water in my new 220g to around 78-80 degrees farenheit

depends on the ambient temp of the room, but 2-250w heaters should be fine.

:iagree:

Multiple heaters are best, that way if one of them has a stuck thermostat it won't cook your fish.

thx that helps, cuz the tank came with a 250w, a 200w, and 2 100w's, i was just makin sure i didn't need them all

I would use the 250, 200, and one or two 100's. It can't hurt to have more, but I would go with new ones unless the ones it came with are name brand. And two 250s or 300s would do nicely.
